Increase Attention Span

Attention span is the amount of time that a person can concentrate on a task without becoming distracted. It is important to be able to increase attention span as the ability to focus one's attention on a task is crucial for the achievement of one's goals

I have been planting a vegetable garden lately so have working with a lot plants and so found this article very interesting on how you can increase attention span by adding household plants to your environment.

Below are different ways to increase your attention span.
  • As in most things your tools are really important to action a certain activity and the same is for attention span. So this means to build your body/brain to increase you attention span. This means aat a good breakfast that includes some protein and healthy fiber. After sleeping all night, your glucose level is low, making it difficult to concentrate. For me anything with B-12 is good and I also read that sardines are good too.
  • Less Sleep is a leading cause of inattentiveness. So make it a habit to get enough sleep.
  • Spend a few minutes each day relaxing, breathing deeply and focusing on only your breath, you will increase your ability to concentrate.
  • Cut down the amount of information sources as the constant barrage of needless information, your mind passively absorbs useless data without needing to concentrate. So cut down on tv, radio, computer, magazines, podcasts, discussions and mobile use. Or just focus on one of those things at once as if you focus only on one of those things at one times you are training your attention span
  • Take a break from tedious work if you find your attention span dwindling. A brisk walk in the sunshine will clear the cobwebs in your brain and allow you to attack your work with renewed concentration.

I have a very short attention span and think it was cause by having to much useless information around me. As I have spent the majority of the lest ten years with around ten people in the same lounge all doing different things at the same time e.g TV, computers and different discussion in different areas of room. It will be interesting for me if the above techniques to increase attention span will work.
