Rebels NATO US after Libya gold

I read an article that the Libya revolution might not be about oil but about banking. I think its more then that I think its actually about Libya's gold. So you have NATO US and rebels supported by Egypt trying to take over Libya.

The biggest threat that libya has given to NATO is that it wants stop trading in euro's and dollars and start trading in gold dinar. They also have 144 ton's of gold in their central bank to back up their plan. The amount of gold at current market rates is at least six trillion dollars. Six trillion dollars is a large amount of money to who ever controls the libyan government.

One of the first actions the rebels have accomplished is to create a central bank which is unique and is a tell of their motives. Usually one of first things rebels do, is create a semblance of government not a central bank.

I first thought rebels in Libya had popular support then changed my opinion after watching news clips that show real support for Gaddafi. After further reading I found that Libya are entitled to free medical treatment, and their hospitals provide some of the best medical equipment in the world. Education in Libya is free, capable young people have the opportunity to study abroad at government expense. When marrying, young couples receive 60,000 Libyan dinars (about 50,000 US dollars) of financial assistance and Non-interest state loans. Due to government subsidies the price of cars is much lower than in Europe, and they are affordable for every family. Gasoline and bread cost a penny, no taxes for those who are engaged in agriculture. The Libyan people are quiet and peaceful, are not inclined to drink, and are very religious.

There is also the popular achievement of the Libyan government which brought water to the desert by building the largest and most expensive irrigation project in history, the $33 billion GMMR (Great Man-Made River) project. Even more than oil, water is crucial to life in Libya. The GMMR provides 70 percent of the population with water for drinking and irrigation, pumping it from Libya's vast underground Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System in the south to populated coastal areas 4,000 kilometers to the north.

There is also the interesting argument about membership of Bank for International Settlements (BIS) of which Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Iran are not members. BIS main function is an intergovernmental organization of central banks which fosters international monetary and financial cooperation and serves as a bank for central banks. Which is funny as most central banks are privately owned and major countries that are being attacked by NATO/US are ones not in the BIS.

I always thought the attack on Iraq was more to do with status of dollar then oil. Biggest threat to dollar as reserve currency is trading based on commodities not fiat currencies. Oil is largest commodity while gold and silver is the best source for real financial exchange.

So to keep dollar safe as a reserve currency, they have to attack main source of competition which is country that is proposing a new currency and has gold reserves to action on the new currency.

It would be interesting to see how many countries in the BIS are supporting the rebels also how much popular support do the rebels really have.

Uh, sorry to burst the bubble, but 144T of gold would be worth $9 billion, not $6 trillion.

$1.9k/oz > $30K/# > $60M/T > $9B/150T
